HMS Companies Inc. began as a typical property management company in 1984. Over the years, different services were added as a way to better compete in the marketplace for tenants. Several years ago the company CEO conceived of a new business paradigm that would build upon the concept of cross marketing within a divisional structure. The goal was to better serve our clients by taking advantage of service from within to improve our performance. That concept was later expanded to target inclusion of divisions that were also uniquely positioned to offer "special services" to the industry as a whole. In 2008, Hickory Management Services was acquired. 2010 will witness the advent of web-based remarketing of credit and background reporting through HMS Credit and the addition of Receivership services. The result has been unique synergy that improves the performance in each division beyond what they could do individually.
HMS Companies Inc now consists of Lender Recovery services, Home Marketing Systems Inc marketing and brokerage, HMS Credit Services, Hickory Management Services for Condominium and Homeowner associations and HMS Projects involving insurance restorations and energy upgrades through its sister company Retrofit Shell Technology LLC.
